About
After several years working for other jewelers, Artist Tivonya Stephenson started asking questions about the ethics, safety, & origins of the materials she worked with. Realizing there were some conflicts of conscience involved she wanted to keep doing what she loved, but in a way that was healthier for people & the planet.
That's how T&L Fine Jewelry LLC began in January 2020 when she moved to the Oregon coast from the Midwest.
For a brief time, her studio was located inside a fifth wheel in the Siuslaw National Forest. Then, to a sublet studio space inside a local business in Florence, Oregon until she was able to start renting her own private studio space & subsequently moved the business to Eugene, Oregon in 2022. This move & the subsequent artworks that were produced was greatly aided by funds from The Artist Resilience Program, administered by the Oregon Arts Commission in partnership with Oregon Community Foundation and the James F. and Marion Miller Foundation for which Tivonya will always be grateful. The Covid epidemic was a difficult time & this grant made it possible to continue working.
Her downtown Eugene studio is located inside the historic Smeede Hotel Building & is open by appointment only.
Tivonya designs & makes at T&L in two distinct categories.
-
(1) In-house designs for the T&L Fine Jewelry brand. These are designs inspired by nature & the sub-conscious. Aiming to bridge the gap between highly artistic jewelry that is poorly made & high-end highly technical heirloom quality fine jewelry you'll find these designs to be both creative & unique with a skill in craftsmanship & quality that is rare.
-
(2) Bespoke Commissions for customers. These are pieces of jewelry made in collaboration with customers. The customer may supply some of the materials, the ideas, or even the design & T&L brings it to reality. This method of making has proven to be very meaningful & rewarding. T&L is pleased to have been entrusted with so many deeply personal projects on behalf of customers.
As the business grows Tivonya continues to devote time to learning more & improving existing business practices for an eco-kinder approach to the fine art of personal adornment.
